Settling Back In

Tomorrow I will have been back in Chicago for a week. Time flies, and yet it also feels like I've been here much longer with all that has happened. Time gets filled here, I'll tell you that!

Last Saturday I woke up way too early (jet-lag), but enjoyed a lovely sunrise in Caleb and Haley's apartment. With a warm cup of tea and light streaming through the windows, it couldn't have been a better welcome to a new day.

Tea was in order, and coffee later when we had breakfast all together.

This week has been interesting. I would be lying if I said it didn't have its ups and downs. Moody is a wonderful school, yet it still always takes time to transition back to this environment. Syllabus shock didn't get the best of me this semester, which was good. In the past, it has definitely gotten me down for a couple of weeks before I got into the groove of classes. Maybe Spring semester is just easier that way in general too. Even though I didn't do school for three weeks, it's still better than coming back to schoolwork after the summer.

I'm thankful for a refuge to come back to when I fly in (Caleb and Haley's apartment) and that Moody feels familiar now. When I came back to my dorm room later that Saturday, it felt normal. I still miss being in a home, but I know this life. I can fall back into patterns.

For those of you who are curious what my classes look like this semester, I'll be taking Human Development, Ministry Planning, Teaching the Bible Practicum, Philosophy and Christianity and Western Culture II. Some of those may seem vague, but they're packed full of papers, reading, teaching and new things to learn! After one week of classes...second semester, here I come... even when it's hard.

  1. Oh I like the sound of Philosophy and Christianity and Western Culture II...makes me wish I could be in your class and study it with you. Keep me posted on your favorite parts.
