Haley-Bars

Last week I gave Caleb a bag of almonds and a bag of dates to bring home. Why? For Haley-bars!

Haley brought these homemade bars to school once and let me try some. I loved them after the first bite. So good and satisfying - it's difficult to stop after just eating one! But they are packed full of good things.

Caleb started calling them "Haley-bars" and the name stuck.

She kindly shared her recipe with me. I'd make them if I had a food processor, but until I have access to one, I'll send ingredients over to the Patty residence to be added to their batch. Thank you Haley for that gift! You have no idea how wonderful they are to me.

Recipe:
1 cup raw unsalted almonds
1 cup dates
1 cup craisins
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

Combine all ingredients in a food processor!

By the way, Haley is an excellent cook. Every time I've eaten at their house, she's surprised me with unexpected flavors and provided wholesome, delicious meals. Caleb is a lucky guy! :)

  1. I just made them tonight and they turned out yummy! Even though I only had blanched almonds and dry dates. Glad you told me to add some "sticky" - used 1/8 cup of agave and that was perfect. They'll be great at our small group meeting tomorrow afternoon! Have you tried freezing them? I put some in to see how they turn out.
