Week 3 and 4

How can I in a few words express how much these past six weeks have challenged me and yet have been such a good and rich experience? It's difficult.

My third week I got to be in the "Monkeys" room with the 4-5 year olds. So many giggles, kids books, lots of coloring, cuddling, chasing and playing. I loved interacting on a more relational level this week with these "older" kids. Again, I was really nervous at the beginning of the week because there were going to be 15 kids, but the Lord went before us and it ended up being my favorite week of camp.

(This is the "Annex" where I lived at Gull Lake. The rooms were tiny, but charming in their own way, I guess - odd mirror included!)

For week 4 I was on "Workcrew". I got to scrub dishes, wipe tables, sort silverware, fill pitchers, clean, serve and run back and forth doing anything they needed. It was different not being in "among" the families all the time, but God did have things to teach me in Workcrew too - patience, endurance, intentionality and attentiveness to whatever our Workcrew director needed.

God blew me away with how He provided physical strength for every day. There is no way I'd have energy on my own to jump up and down and sing songs and then go clean tables and end the day not completely exhausted. Learning about His daily Presence and strength became common theme at Gull Lake this Summer.

I'm forever thankful for everything that God taught me through Gull Lake in orientation and week 1, 2, 3, and 4.

More stories to come.

  1. What an awesome experience for you! It's so awesome to hear people serving and doing things to show Jesus to others. Very, very cool!

P.s. That mirror is amazing and I want it! :) haha!
