Since my mom was only a little older than I am now, since college, she and Michelle have been buddies. I don't even really know the whole story of how those two became friends (I think it was through church?), but their friendship has lasted through everything that life has brought.
It's beautiful for me to see Mom and Michelle connecting. When they're together, it's almost like they're college girlfriends again. They pick up right from where they last left off when seeing each other face to face.
It's not only a joy to see Mom so happy with her buddy while we're visiting in Oregon, but it's also encouraging to me! Who knows which friendships will last decades? Who knows which friends will stick through every stage of life? Who knows which people I'm just getting to know now will forever be a part of my life?
I'm pretty lucky that my Mom has some awesome friends. Mom's friends - I love you all! Michelle, thanks for coming over this morning to hang out, even just for a hello!
