Friendships that last

A lot can change in 5 years.

But some things don't.

It's a blessing that out of all the places in the U.S. that Hayley and I could have gone to college, we both (separately) chose colleges that are less than an hour away from each other. It's far enough that, sadly, we only see each other about once a month or less, but still. We get to see each other.

Our friendship has changed, yes. We have separate groups of friends, and we are experiencing different kinds of things. But the core of our friendship is still there. I think that's there to stay.

I'm staying out in the suburbs with Mom and Dad this weekend, so Mom and I got to have lunch with Hayley today. I couldn't have asked for a better way to relieve pre-finals stress.

Speaking of friendships that get to continue even just a little bit now that I'm in the States...

I got to say hello to Lucy today too! She works in Wheaton, and happened to be around this afternoon when we were downtown. What a treat from the Lord to see two of my dear friends from Czech today...and also to meet a special someone to Lucy too! *wink wink* (Lucy -- we all really like him!)

No part of me wanted to give Hayley another hug goodbye today before we both leave for Christmas. I'll be in Colorado, and she'll be in Czech. It's good to know that when we both come back though, we won't be too far away.

Now just for this last push on Monday and Tuesday, and I will be finished with my first semester at Moody Bible Institute. This has already been quite the journey.
