Senior trip with Dad

4000 km.

One car.

Through 6 countries.

My dad, Hayley, and me.

Roadtrip!!

When my brothers graduated, my dad took them both on a senior trip backpacking in the Alps. They hiked for days, and absolutely loved it. I was in awe of all their pictures, but not sure I could handle that kind of intensity...nope, I definitely couldn't do five days of backpacking. My dad pretended that that was an option, but then we just laughed at the thought of that becoming reality.

I knew my trip was going to be a bit different, but I still really wanted to at least see Switzerland, though I didn't know what we would do there for five days. I have also always wanted to visit Rome, but there hasn't been an opportunity to all these years. How could I ever choose between Switzerland and Rome??

As it turned out, we found a solution to this dilemma.  My dad is up for any adventure (which I absolutely love about him), so we decided to do both. By car.

Roadtrip time!

We spent a lot of time in the car. Hours and hours. With plenty of music, some audiodramas (such as this one), great conversations, and staring out the windows, we did it. We stayed in a tent 3 out of the 4 nights to keep it affordable, and Dad even drove through the 5th night, sleeping for only two hours parked by a gas station! We brought food with us to take care of breakfasts and lunches. I loved it though.

There are so many pictures to share, memories to relive, and stories to tell, that I can't fit it all into one blog post. For the next few days I'll recap the adventures, and try to capture this trip so that I never forget it.

But first of all, thank you Dad!!!

And thank you Mom, for letting us go, and for holding down the fort with Kaylee for 5 days.

I love you both!

(Oh, and by the way, if you're wondering...yes, we did do some hiking. But only for one day. The view was worth it!)

  1. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!

That last picture of you and dad is just awesome...so perfect of you two (different than if you were wearing backpacks like your brothers!). I love that you have a pretty, girly shirt on, and are sitting down with those gorgeous Alps behind you. It's just right!!!

So glad you got to do that with dad!
